Poker run proceeds to benefit area school for boys

On April 26, Boats, Bikes and Bowers held a poker run for both boating enthusiasts and motorcyclists.

The money raised will benefit the birthday fund for the boys of Shiningtree Children's Home.

Stops, prizes and special events were sponsored by Sunset Tavern, Windy Hill Restaurant, Nexgen Hobby, Family Recreation Center, Sky Room Lounge, Whitetail Ski Resort, Simply Self-Storage, Wetsuit Wearhouse, Primerica Financial Services, Williamsport Fire and Rescue, Black Dog Motorcycles, 106.9 FM, and Bowers Marine Sales.

Kevin O'Leary - Fairfax Realty Inc. supplied breakfast and Simply Self-Storage supplied the burgers and dogs feast.

Winners abounded:

Congratulations to Steve Thompson, who had the worst hand and won a distress flag; to Denise Fowler who had the second-best hand, winning a whale spray pool donated by Bowers Marine, a certificate for beginner lessons from Whitetail Resort and a certificate for $50 off a guide trip from 2 Rivers Guide Service.

With the best hand, Richard Bishop won a PWC Inflatable Tube and four Tracker hats from Bowers Marine, a certificate from Whitetail Resort, a certificate from 2 Rivers Guide Service and a wetsuit from the Wetsuit Warehouse.


David Whorters and Jessie Seibert won special drawings for a pull-along cooler and floating lounges.

The event coordinators wish to express their appreciation to all the volunteers, sponsors and participants of this event and look forward to next year's poker run.
