Mock, Roach lead Indians at AA Region II track meet

WESTON, W.Va. - Meghan Mock won four events and Lenny Roach won three as the Berkeley Springs girls and boys teams each finished second at the West Virginia Class AA Region II Track & Field Championships on Friday.

Mock - the high-point scorer at the last two state meets - won the 100-meter hurdles in 15.68 seconds, the 300 hurdles in 47.08, the high jump at 5 feet, 2 inches and the long jump at 17-5.

Roach swept the distance races, winning the 800 in 2:01.10, the 1,600 in 4:47.70 and the 3,200 in 10:13.83. He also anchored the Indians to a third-place finish in the 4x800 relay (8:43.00).

Also for the Berkeley Springs boys, Sam Byrne took first in the discus (137-8), Paul Truitt took second in the 300 hurdles (41.32) and both ran legs of the second-place 4x100 (45.55) and third-place 4x200 (1:35.84).


The Indians girls got second- place finishes from Michelle Williams in the 400 (1:04.84), Amber Booher in the high jump (5-0) and Kelsey McCoy in the discus (98-1).

Mid-Penn Championships

COLONIAL PARK, Pa. - Four area boys were runners-up during Day 1 of the Mid-Penn Conference meet.

The second-place finishers were James Buchanan's Brandon Smith in the 300 hurdles (39.52), Waynesboro's Aaron McKenzie in the shot put (52-4) and Chambersburg's Kavon Bailey in the triple jump (42-9 1/2) and Armond Perez in the javelin (182-2).
