LOUDOUN COUNTY, Va. -- A Charles Town, W.Va., man was killed Wednesday when his pickup truck went off the road in Loudoun County, Va., police said.
James Dewey Coates, 49, was driving west on Va. 7, in the west end of the county, Virginia State Police Trooper Jeff Foutz said.
At about 6:30 p.m., Coates' 2005 Ford Ranger went off the road to the left, near Stoneleigh Drive.
Coates overcorrected when he tried to turn back on to the road, causing his truck to flip several times, Foutz said.
Coates was pronounced dead at the scene.
No one else was in Coates' vehicle and no other vehicles were involved, Foutz said.
Foutz said it was a clear day and the road was dry.
Coates' obituary says he was a heavy-equipment operator with Shirley Construction Co.
