A new restaurant proposed for Eastern Boulevard is going elsewhere.

Frank Illiano said Wednesday that he will open a Greene Turtle Sports Bar & Grille at the Stone House Square shopping center on Leitersburg Pike.

Illiano discussed his plan with the Washington County Board of License Commissioners, which is commonly known as the liquor board.

He told the board he plans to apply for a liquor license soon.

Illiano said afterward that he'll seek a license to serve beer, wine and liquor.

Construction probably will start at the end of June and the restaurant could open by the end of the year, he said.

Illiano told the liquor board in February he planned to open an 8,500-square-foot Greene Turtle on Eastern Boulevard, across from the Al Pomodoro restaurant, according to a Herald-Mail account at the time.

He said Wednesday that his plan changed.

· In its first action of the day, the liquor board approved a pouring license for Kendra Peacher, who is opening The Peach Pub on South Potomac Street. The building formerly was the home of 43 South Ristorante.

· The board also approved a patio permit for Third Base Tavern in Williamsport and heard about a plan to build a patio at the Aqua 103 restaurant on Leitersburg Pike.

Robert West, the owner of Third Base Tavern, told the board in February that the patio would accommodate smokers affected by a new statewide indoor smoking ban.
