Washington County library to hold reception for contest winners

In celebration of Children's Book Week - May 12 to 18 - Washington County Library sponsored its second annual Create an Easy Picture Book Contest.

Participants were asked to write and illustrate a children's picture book. More than 30 entries were received.

A reception honoring the winners will be held at the Central Library in Hagerstown on Thursday, May 15, at 7 p.m.

The winner in each division will receive a hardbound edition of their book and a copy of their work will be placed in the library's collection.

The 2008 winners are:

· Grades two-three: Julie Hutzell - "Star and Roxy Meet Sora"

· Grades four and five: Kayla Vance - "Samantha"

· Grades six to eight: Levi Stone (author) Katherine Grahl (photographer) - "Pumpkin Pie"

· Adult: Cindy Downs - "Wilbur and Henrietta's Great Adventure"
