Shepherd University fees, tuition could go up

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - The Shepherd University Board of Governors approved the 2008-09 tuition and fees recently.

Pending final approval from the Higher Education Policy Commission (HEPC), tuition and fees for in-state residents will increase by $167 per semester, from $2,282 to $2,449. Tuition and fees for out-of-state residents will increase by $388 per semester, from $6,018 to $6,406.

Also approved were increases in graduate tuition and fees. Graduate rates will increase from $259 to $281 per hour for in-state students and from $374 to $402 per hour for out-of-state students.

The tuition and fee increases will augment a $309,586 increase in state appropriations designated for pay increases.

The application fee will increase from $35 to $45, with the additional revenues being used for improvements to the application process mandated by the federal government and HEPC.
