Burley H. Landis, 71

HEDGESVILLE, W.Va. - Burley Henry Landis, 71, of Hedgesville, died Saturday, May 3, 2008, at City Hospital.

Born Dec. 1, 1936, in Clothier, W.Va., he was the son of the late Claude Lester Landis and Anna Louise Landis.

He retired from Schmidt Baking Co. in 1999.

He was a member of Johnsontown Church of the Brethren.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Sylvia F. Gosnell Landis; one daughter, Kimberly D. Payne of Hedgesville; five sisters, Aggie Somers of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., Blanche Landis of California, Hazel Kerns of Winchester, Va., Frances Sager of Whitacre, W.Va., and JoAnn LeVan of Frankford, W.Va.; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Marge Yost, and three brothers, Walter, Jesse and James Landis.

Services will be Thursday at noon at Johnsontown Church of the Brethren. Pastor Dennis Rhoe will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg, and Thursday from 11 a.m. to noon at the church.

Warren E. Moser, 75

WOLFSVILLE, Md. - Warren E. Moser, 75, of Wolfsville, died Saturday, May 3, 2008, at Frederick (Md.) Memorial Hospital.

Born Aug. 2, 1932, in Wolfsville, he was the son of the late Hoy D. and Mary I. Blickenstaff Moser.

He was a 1951 graduate of Middletown (Md.) High School.

He retired from P.I.E. of Hagerstown after many years of service.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in World War II.

He was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Wolfsville.

He was a member of Wolfsville Fire Co., of which he was one of the founders, and Woodsboro (Md.) American Legion.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia A. Smith Moser, whom he married Aug. 15, 1958; four children, Larry E. Moser of Foxville, Md., Dawn P. Beachley of Middletown, Penny A. Millison of Sabillasville, Md., and Greg W. Moser of Myersville, Md.; one sister, Judith Routzahn of Wolfsville; two brothers, Charles Moser and Ronald Moser, both of Wolfsville; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one aunt.

Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Wolfsville. Pastor David Howell will officiate. Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery.

The family will receive friends today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Ricketts Funeral Home, Myersville.

Hazellen E. LeMaster, 66

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Hazellen E. LeMaster, 66, of Martinsburg, died Saturday, May 3, 2008, at her residence.

Born July 3, 1941, in Sharpsburg, she was the daughter of the late Roy D. Elliott and Sara Ella Clipp Elliott.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James A. LeMaster III.

She was a cook at Step Ahead Preschool.

She was a member of St. Leo Catholic Church.

She is survived by three daughters, Debra A. Brewer of Waynesboro, Pa., Selena D. McCormick of Martinsburg and Lisa E. Avey of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; three sons, James D. LeMaster, Howard T. Mann Jr. and Gregory T. Mann, all of Martinsburg; one sister, Dorothy Bayer of Martinsburg; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two daughters, Janet L. Hough and Sonja L. LeMaster; two brothers, Stanley L. and Roy D. Elliott; and one sister, Genevieve E. Gregory.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. Leo Catholic Church, Inwood, W.Va. The Rev. Brian Shoda will be celebrant. Burial will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg.




Charles L. Fischer Sr., 73

WILLIAMSPORT - Charles Leroy "Charlie" Fischer Sr., 73, of 11337 Sword Road, died Saturday, May 3, 2008, at his home.

Born Nov. 23, 1934, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Lewis Walter Fischer and Julia Ann Ambrose Fischer Chaney.

He retirement in 1993 from Alkahn Labels in Williamsport, where he was employed as a designer for 36 years.

He served in the U.S. Air Force.

He was a member of Pinesburg Baptist Church.

He was a member of Potomac Post 202 American Legion, Williamsport Volunteer Fire and EMS Co. Inc., Western Maryland Fish & Game Club and Potomac Fish & Game Club, all of Williamsport, and AARP.

He is survived by is wife of 50 years, Donna Marlene Turner Fischer; one daughter, Joni K. White of Williamsport; one son, Charles L. Fischer Jr. of Hagerstown; four sisters, Ruth Waters and Esther Myers, both of Williamsport, Isabelle Miller of Maugansville and Naomi Pheltz of Topping, Va.; one brother, George Fischer of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; four grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters.
