May 05, 2008

John R. Marsh Cancer Center was recently awarded a $100,000 grant from the Maryland Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure. The funds are used to support the Make a Difference breast cancer screening program, now in its seventh year. The program received initial funding in 2002 and has been awarded over $600,000 in grants.

The Make a Difference program is a breast health awareness, education and screening program that has reached more than 1,200 women in the community.

Screenings are held three to four times per month in a variety of locations throughout the community.

Program collaborators include Washington County Health Department and Breast Cancer Awareness Cumberland Valley (BCACV).
