Work to close lanes Monday on I-81

May 04, 2008

SCOTLAND, Pa. - Construction work related to the Pa. 997 bridge replacement project over Interstate 81 in Scotland will require a traffic-lane restriction in both directions on the interstate Monday night, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.

Starting about 7:30 p.m. and continuing no later than 6 a.m. Tuesday, I-81 will be restricted to a single lane in both directions in the vicinity of Exit 20 so that construction crews can safely install a concrete barrier along the shoulder, according to PennDOT.

The operation is in preparation for partial demolition of the existing overhead bridge that carries Pa. 997 over I-81, according to PennDOT.

Beyond Monday night, intermittent lane closures are anticipated in the coming weeks, and will be preceded by announcements from PennDOT.
