This year's National Day of Prayer will be observed Thursday at Washington Square United Methodist Church, 538 Washington Ave. in Hagerstown.
Sponsored by the West Hagerstown United Methodist parish, a prayer vigil will be from 12:01 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday for anyone who wants to spend time in prayer or meditation.
Someone will be at the parking lot entrance to give access during the early-morning hours.
At 5:15 p.m., a family night supper will be held, followed by an old-fashioned prayer meeting from 6 to 7 p.m. in the sanctuary.
Those who attend the prayer vigil, which is dedicated to longtime church member the late Jim Poindexter, will receive a lapel sticker that reads "I Prayed."
