Church plans event in Hagerstown for parents, young people

First Christian Church is offering a retreat at the church and a concert at The Maryland Theatre May 9 and 10 designed to encourage communication between parents/guardians and their children. Adults and children age 10 and older are encouraged to attend both the retreat and the concert to get the greatest benefit from the experience.

The concert has been written by members of Authentic Community Theater's Creative Arts Team with input from prominent local leaders. It features all-original songs and performances by local talent. It is also designed to raise questions for the adults, teens and tweens who attend.

Schedule of events for the concert and retreat:

"Know Love, Know Power Retreat - Part I"

Friday May 9 - 5:30 to 7 p.m. at First Christian Church, 1345 Potomac Ave., Hagerstown; Soup and sandwiches will be served.

"Know Love, Know Power - The Concert"

Friday, May 9 - 8 to 10 p.m., The Maryland Theatre 21 S. Potomac St. Hagers-town.


"Know Love, Know Power Retreat - Part II,"

Saturday May 10 - 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., First Christian Church, 1345 Potomac Ave., Hagerstown; Pizza will be served.

The concert and retreat are free to the public.

No registration is required for the concert.

Due to limited seating, registration is required for both parts of the retreat.
