Clear Spring pastor plans trip to Holy Land

April 28, 2008

CLEAR SPRING - The Rev. John Toms, who went to Israel in January, is planning another Holy Land trip over Thanksgiving and wants interested travelers to contact him.

Toms is pastor of St. Paul's Church near Clear Spring. Founded in 1747, St. Paul's is the only remaining union church in Maryland.

The January trip was inspired by the Exodus Adult Sunday School class, and its reading of the Old Testament and God's covenant with Israel.

In addition to celebrating Thanksgiving and the beginning of Advent at the Christmas Lutheran Church in Bethlehem, the group will visit sites such as Mount Carmel, the Sea of Galilee, the Jordan Valley, the Mount of Olives, Nazareth, Bethlehem, Masada, Qumran, the Dead Sea, the old and new cities of Jerusalem, and the Wailing Wall, among others.
