Burgess, Suns power past Grasshoppers

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Michael Burgess hit two home runs and drove in five runs as the Hagerstown Suns defeated the Greensboro Grasshoppers 8-5 on Saturday night.

Burgess hit a two-run shot in the fourth inning and a three-run shot in the seventh, giving him eight homers this season.

Tim Pahuta added a solo homer in the sixth - his second of the season - as Hagerstown (11-12) scored all of its runs from the fourth inning through the seventh in building an 8-1 lead.

The Suns scored two runs in the fifth. Jhonatan Solano singled, Francisco Plasencia doubled him in, and Plasencia scored on Bill Rhinehart's single.

Greensboro (12-11) cut the lead to 8-4 in the bottom of the seventh, as Hunter Mense, Ryan Anetsberger and Bryan Petersen each doubled and Ben Lasater added an RBI single.

The Grasshoppers made it 8-5 in the eighth as Osvaldo Martinez tripled and scored on Anetsberger's single, but the Suns held on from there.

Suns starter Terrence Engles allowed five hits, three walks and an unearned run in four innings, striking out two. Reliever Atahualpa Severino got the win, allowing five hits and three runs in three innings while striking out five.
