Suns get into swing to rip Grasshoppers

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Trevor Lawhorn had three of Hagerstown's 12 hits and the Suns took advantage of six Greensboro errors on Friday for a 9-5 win.

The victory comes on the heels of Hagerstown's 8-7 win in 14 innings on Thursday.

Lawhorn and Bill Rhinehart each drove in two runs to help starter Jeff Mandel win his first game of the season.

The Suns collected six extra-base hits, including triples by Francisco Plasencia and Rhinehart while Michael Burgess hit his sixth homer for Hagerstown's final run in the ninth.

The Suns fell behind 3-1 in the first, but came back with four runs in the third and two in the fourth for a 7-1 advantage.

Rhinehart's triple drove in a run and set up RBI hits for Lawhorn, Burgess and Tim Pahuta. Plasencia tripled and scored the Suns' first run in the fourth.

Mandel went 5 2/3 innings, allowing three runs (two earned) on seven hits while striking out seven. Luis Atilano pitched the final 3 1/3 to earn the save, allowing two runs on four hits.
