Weis Markets held a grand opening Thursday for its new store in Stone House Square on Leitersburg Pike.

The 61,000-square-foot superstore is the third Weis Market in Washington County, with another store on Eastern Boulevard in Hagerstown and a store in Boonsboro. The new store has perishable departments, a sit-down caf area, an eight-pump gas station and a pharmacy.

"We're indeed very excited about the grand opening," said Tom Moser, district manager of Region West for Weis Markets. "I think the community is anxious for us to open,"

In celebration of their grand opening, Weis Markets and its associates donated $13,000 to local charities and organizations.

The Antietam Healthcare Foundation received $10,000 for its SAFE program for victims of sexual assault. Donations of $1,000 were made to Meals on Wheels of Washington County, YMCA of Hagerstown and Engine 3 Independent Fire Co.

"We've always made a point of being a good neighbor in the community," Moser said. "This gets us off to a great start."
