Children who turn 4 by Sept. 1 will be given priority. Based on state guidelines, income determines eligibility for prekindergarten programs in Maryland. Other circumstances may also affect eligibility.
To be eligible for consideration for early admission to kindergarten, the child must be 5 years of age by Oct. 31. To begin the early admission process, parents/guardians must send a written request to the director of Student Services. The request should include the child's name, birth date, address, school attendance area and telephone number. The assessments will be scheduled and completed during the spring and summer.

Spelling bee results for seventh grade:
Winner was Leah Davis; Runner-up was Larry Etter; Alternate was Sebastian Meid.
Geography bee results. The school-level competition of the National Geography Bee was held Jan. 3.
The top three winners were: third place, Kaitlyn Rea; second place,Corey Bryce; and the winner, Sam Keyser.
Congratulations to all on an excellent competition and good luck to Sam as he waits to hear the results of the qualifying test to see if he will compete in the state competition.
