Don't forget, this Friday is a 2 1/2-hour early dismissal for students. It's the end of the marking period for the middle and high school kids. So, keep an eye out for those report cards soon.

Meeting set

Mark your calendars, parents of middle-schoolers.

The meeting about the Family Life classes that your seventh- and eighth-graders will possibly be attending will be held at the middle school April 30 at 6:30 p.m.

Garden Club to meet Thursday

Clear Spring Garden Club will hold its monthly meeting Thursday at 7 p.m. at St. John's UCC.

This month, Potomac Bead Co. will be at the meeting demonstrating how to make a necklace and a bracelet. This is free to members who have signed up in advance. Also, just a reminder from the club to start sprucing up your community gardens.

Let's craft together

Calling all crafters. Come to the L. P. Snyder Memorial Library Thursday, May 1 at 6 p.m.

Bring a piece you are working on and craft with others. Share good conversation and perhaps learn a few useful crafting tips.

Potpie supper set

Don't forget, the Big Pool Civic Organization will hold a slippery chicken potpie supper.

The all-you-can eat supper will be Saturday from 4 p.m. until sold out. All meals will be eat-in or carryout only. Along with the potpie, the menu includes stewed tomatoes, coleslaw, applesauce, cake and drinks. Tickets cost $6 for adults, $3 for those younger than 12 and preschoolers eat free.

Happy birthday

Happy birthday to my son, Chase Weaver. Chase will be 4 years old Wednesday. I hope that you have a great day!

Pastor welcomed

St. Paul's Lutheran Church welcomes Pastor Allen Reed as the new leader of its congregation.

Originally from the Williamsport area, Pastor Reed had most recently served three churches in Fulton County, Pa. The members at St. Paul's are very happy to have him and extend an invitation to all to come at 8:15 a.m. on Sunday to hear him speak.

Boosters plan golf tournament

Come out and tee it up with the Clear Spring Athletic Boosters at their biggest event of the year.

The second annual Boosters Golf Open (four-person scramble event) will be Friday, May 9.

The tournament will be held at Whitetail Golf Resort in Mercersburg, Pa. (11573 Blairs Valley Road).

This event is to help support Clear Spring High School athletics.

The tournament costs $80 per golfer, which includes 18-holes with cart, lunch, dinner, drinks, prizes, contests and more.

Did you know?

Did you know that Clear Spring had a Cornet Band in the early 1900s?

It had about 20 members. Directors of the band were Harry Tosten and Professor Brown. They met above Pop Jamison's "Chicken pie and Fried Oyster Sandwich Shop" in the center of town on Main Street.
