Heed the warning: Friday, April 25, will leave only eight months until Christmas.

North High band concert to be held

The annual spring concert for the concert band and wind ensemble will be at North Hagerstown High School Wednesday, May 14, at 7 p.m. The jazz band's concert is Thursday, May 15, at 7 p.m.

These are always very special events, as the school says goodbye and good luck to its graduating seniors.

The musical selections are sure to please everyone. Come join NHHS for a wonderful evening and see how talented the Hub band is!

Spring concert to be held at church

The final concert of the season in the Leon Cross Concert Series titled "Spring Concert Featuring Hagerstown Talent" will be Sunday at First Christian Church on Potomac Avenue at 3 p.m.


Many of the church musicians and singers, including the FCC Chancel Choir, FCC Brass Ensemble, Heavenly Harmony, and Greg and Kyle Martin will perform. Matthew Albright is the musical director.

The concert is free and open to all. A reception will follow in the Fellowship Hall.

Christian music ministry band to play

Captive Free, a Christian music ministry band, will provide a family-oriented program Friday at 7 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church at the corner of North Potomac Street and Randolph Avenue.

The casual program will be held in the Fellowship Hall adjacent to the church parking lot at the rear of the building. A freewill offering will be received. All are welcome.

St. Mary Catholic School open house

An open house will be held today from 6 to 8 p.m. at St. Mary Catholic School on West Washington Street in Hagerstown.

The open house if for those who might be interested in sending their child to the school.

There will be teachers and staff available to answer questions and give tours. Information packets and applications will be available.


On April 14, TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) Chapter 77 leader Donna continued to award certificates to members who participated in various activities and worked on committees last year.

Janice Frye will conduct the group's next program titled "Why Did I Do That?"

Elsie Horst will lead the program on April 28. Elsie is planning to have a skit about fruit and its importance in our daily menu.

In the near future, the group will be having a show and tell of the SRD.

The chapter meets Mondays at First Christian Church, 1345 Potomac Ave. Weigh-in is from 7:15 to 9:20 a.m., exercise at 8:30 a.m., and the meeting is from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.

St. Maria Goretti news

Mark your calendar and plan to join St. Maria Goretti High School for its next open house on Thursday from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

Spring Sports Night will be Monday, April 28, at Municipal Stadium at 6:45 p.m.

The school will be recognizing its senior athletes.

Curves group to meet April 28

The Amazing Women group meets in the meeting room at North Village and would like to invite all interested women to join them on Monday, April 28, at 6:30 p.m.

The group originally consisted of Curves members who met periodically to hear motivational/informative talk and to encourage each other in their pursuit of health and fitness.

Now Curves owner Julie Doyle has agreed to open the meeting to all women. This meeting's topic will be "Thin is not Enough."

The group leader is Jackie Fields. The meeting is free and open to the public. Call 301-733-3777 to register.

TOPS 446

The TOPS(Take Off Pounds Sensibly) Chapter 446 did not have a net loss for the week ending April 9.

So, the group will think through what it did, regroup and expect a very good number at the scales at Wednesday's meeting.

The group plans to have another lesson on the Intuitive Eating program for Wednesday's meeting. The group invites anyone interested to come for a visit.

The group meets Wednesdays at 9 a.m. for weigh-in, with the meeting from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Shiloh United Methodist Church, 19731 Shiloh Church Road in Hagerstown.

The group plans to meet at 8:30 a.m. for a walk before the weigh-in time starts at 9 a.m.
