Fulton County Medical Center staff holding walking challenge

April 20, 2008

McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. - One hundred and ten Fulton County Medical Center employees began "a journey" across the United States recently.

As part of the FCMC wellness program, all employees were given pedometers and log books. The employees will participate in the challenge to walk across Lincoln Highway. Beginning in McConnellsburg, teams of five will track their steps on a daily basis. The team with the most steps that crosses the virtual finish line in Astoria, Ore., will win gift certificates as prizes. The program lasts 12 weeks.

According to Capital Blue Cross, everyone should strive to walk 10,000 steps per day, which is equivalent to five miles.
