Captains pull rank to rout Suns, 14-7

EASTLAKE, Ohio -- Lucas Montero his a base-clearing double and Matt Brown added a two-run single to key an eight-run fifth inning on Saturday to lift Lake County to a 14-7 win over the Hagerstown Suns.

The Suns scored a run in the top of the fourth on Francisco Plasencia's second homer of the season to tie the game in the top of the fourth before the Captains (11-5) broke the game open against Hagerstown starter Brad Peacock and reliever Kai Tuomi.

The two teams combined for six home runs with the wind blowing out, but Lake County was able to string hits and send 11 hitters to the plate in the fifth to hand the Suns (6-10) their fourth straight loss.

Lake County jumped out to a 3-0 in the first inning on a pair of sacrifice flies and a home run by Brown.

The Suns tied the game in the second on a solo homer by Michael Burgess and a two-run shot by Steven Souza.

The Captains regained the lead in the second when Dustin Realini led off with the first of his two home runs.

The Suns fell behind 14-4 before rallying for three runs in the ninth on a sacrifice fly by Aaron Seuss and a two-run double by Trevor Lawhorn.

All nine of Lake County's starters had at least one hit in the 17-hit attack.
