City police investigate suspicious death

April 20, 2008|By DON AINES

The Hagerstown Police Department was investigating the discovery Saturday night of a body in a house at 457 Mitchell Ave.

The unidentified woman was found about 8:30 p.m. by her mother, said Roxanne French, who lives across the street.

Shortly before 10:30 p.m., two police officers at the scene said the department had no information to release at that time. Police were dispatched for a report of a sudden death or suicide.

Police had taped off an area in front of the house and around three cars parked on the street. French said one of the cars, an older model station wagon, belonged to the woman, while the others belonged to a neighbor and the woman's mother.

The investigation was still ongoing as of 11 p.m., police said.
