Golden Living Center honored

April 20, 2008

Golden Living Center-Hagerstown recently was named a 2007 Quality Award winner by the American Healthcare Association (AHCA) and the National Center for Assisted Living (NCAL).

The center was one of only four long-term care facilities in Maryland to receive the honor.

The AHCA/NCAL awards are modeled after the Malcolm Baldridge Award, the nation's most prestigious award for health care achievement. Golden Living Center won the 2007 award because of its organization-wide commitment to a patient-centered mission, recognition of specific needs of its residents and its ability to meet those needs on a daily basis.

During a celebration of the accomplishment at Dimensions in Boonsboro, the center presented a $1,500 grant to the local Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA). Del. John P. Donoghue, who attended the celebration, matched the donation, raising CASA's total grant to $3,000.

The grant is part of the center's Community Support Initiative (CSI) Grant Program. CSI financial assistance grants are charitable contributions made by the company in support of worthy nonprofit community or regional organizations, or events in communities where Golden Living Centers or AzeraCare agencies are located.
