Pa. man held in attack at Shippensburg fraternity

April 20, 2008

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. (AP) -- A Franklin County man has been charged in connection with a box-cutter attack in March at a Shippensburg University fraternity.

Luis A. Rodriguez, 18, of Chambersburg, Pa., was charged with aggravated assault in the March 21 attacks at the Pi Lambda Phi, police said. Two students had to be taken to the hospital.

The fight started when someone confronted Rodriguez, who isn't a student, about crashing a party, police said. Rodriguez then slashed one victim across the neck and another on the cheek, police alleged.

Rodriguez fled before police arrived, police said.

A series of witness interviews led to Friday's arrest.

Rodriguez is being held at Cumberland County Prison on $250,000 bail. He had been in Franklin County Prison on unrelated charges.
