April 20, 2008

The Hagerstown Heat All Stars competitive cheer and dance's team competed at the 2008 Reach the Beach Nationals in Ocean City, Md., on April 5 and 6.

The event is hosted by American Cheer and Dance Academy.

The team, known as X-PLOSION, competed both Saturday and Sunday and took first place in its division. The team received a trophy, a banner and jackets for each team member.

The team also scored high enough to receive an invitation to Final Destination - The World's Best Competition in Virginia Beach, Va., the first weekend in May.

X-PLOSION is made up of girls 10 to 16 years old. Levels in competitive cheer range from Level 1 to 6. This team is a Level 5. The difference in the levels depends upon the stunting and tumbling performed throughout the two-and-a-half minute routine. Level 6 is more for college and open teams.
