Raid at Hagerstown home nets drugs, gun, arrests

A Thursday night drug bust in Hagerstown's East End netted three arrests, a large quantity of illegal drugs and a loaded shotgun, police said.

At 10:30 p.m., detectives with the Hagerstown Police Department's Street Crime Unit executed a search-and-seizure warrant at 334 Vista St. near Fairgrounds Park. The warrant was issued following complaints from citizens in the area who noted high foot traffic and suspected drug activity at the residence, Sgt. Jim Robison said.

Detectives seized 46 individual packets of heroin along with marijuana, cocaine, Oxycodone and various drug paraphernalia. A loaded 12-gauge shotgun was discovered upon entry into the residence near the front door.

David B. Wetzel Jr., 23, of 334 Vista St., was charged with possession with intent to distribute heroin and marijuana, possession of heroin and marijuana, two counts of drug paraphernalia and possession of a firearm during a drug trafficking crime, police said.

Joshua B. Wetzel, 18, also of 334 Vista St., was charged with possession with intent to distribute heroin, and possession of heroin, marijuana, Oxycodone and drug paraphernalia, police said.

A 16-year-old female juvenile from Waynesboro, Pa., was charged with possession with intent to distribute heroin, possession of heroin, marijuana, Oxycodone and two counts of drug paraphernalia, police said.

David Wetzel was being held Friday morning at the Washington County Detention Center on $75,000 bond, and Joshua Wetzel was being held on $50,000 bond. The juvenile's status was unknown Friday morning.

Also assisting with the search warrant was the Washington County Narcotics Task Force and the Hagerstown Police Department's Patrol Division.
