Lake County shuts out Hagerstown

EASTLAKE, Ohio -- The Hagerstown Suns were held to three hits and no runs in a 2-0 loss Friday night to the Lake County Captains, the South Atlantic League's Northern Division leaders.

It was the Suns' third straight loss.

Captains starter Ryan Miller (4-0) allowed three hits and two walks while striking out seven in six innings.

After Josh Judy pitched two hitless innings of relief for Lake County (10-5), Vinnie Pestano shut down the Suns 1-2-3 in the ninth for his fourth save of the year.

The Captains took a 1-0 lead in the fifth against Suns starter Colton Willems (1-1). Adam White reached on a bunt single, stole second and scored on a double by Roman Pena.

Lake County made it 2-0 in the eighth against Kyle Gunderson, the Suns' third pitcher of the game. Pena reached second on a two-base throwing error, went to third on Karexon Sanchez's single and scored on Jeffrey Hehr's single.


Sanchez and Adam White each had two of the Captains' six hits.

Aaron Seuss hit a one-out double in the fourth for the only extra-base hit for Hagerstown (6-9).

The Suns' best opportunity to score came in the eighth when Steven Souza reached third with one out.
