April 17, 2008

Washington County will be involved in two disaster drills this month.

On Saturday, Hagerstown Regional Airport will hold a "full-scale disaster exercise," according to a county press release.

The exercise will simulate a mass-casualty aircraft incident and an act of terrorism, according to the release. Under federal regulations, the airport is required to hold such drills once every 36 months.

On Saturday, April 26, Washington County Emergency Services, the Local Emergency Planning Committee and Hancock Volunteer Fire Company will hold a hazardous materials drill at the CSX railroad yard in Morgan County, W.Va. The drill will last from 7:30 a.m. to noon.
