Museum open house scheduled in South Mountain, Pa.

SOUTH MOUNTAIN, Pa. - The Preserving Our Heritage Archives & Museum will hold an open house from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday.

The event will culminate with the hanging of the 1,000th photo on the walls of the museum at 11191 South Mountain Road.

Signings of "Taste of Town Waynesboro's Story Volume Two - The Civil War & Reconstruction Years 1861-1868" are also scheduled for 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday.

The book compiles major events and activities as reported by the Waynesboro Village Record newspaper. The 73-page book, which has more than 100 color illustrations, covers the War of the Rebellion and the years of Reconstruction.

Waynesboro lost 21 residents who were soldiers in the Civil War, according to local historian Lee E. Daywalt.

Books are $20 each, he said.
