April 17, 2008|By ERIN JULIUS

A Maryland Correctional Training Center inmate was taken to Washington County Hospital on Wednesday after a stabbing at the prison.

The inmate later was transferred to the prison hospital at the Maryland Correctional Institution across from MCTC, a prisons spokesman said Wednesday afternoon.

An ambulance was dispatched to MCTC at 11:31 a.m., a Washington County Emergency Services dispatcher said Wednesday night.

The inmate was "viciously attacked," MCTC Warden D. Kenneth Horning said.

No information about the inmate's condition was available.

One of the housing tiers at MCTC was locked down as officials investigated the stabbing, Horning said.
