The Herald-Mail has received several calls this week about a low-flying plane in Washington County.
A caller Friday said it was flying near Poffenberger Road that afternoon.
Hagerstown Regional Airport Business Development Manager Greg Larsen said Friday that the airport's tower, which is operated by the Federal Aviation Administration, told him that the plane is complying with all regulations.
He said tower officials said the plane is flying under visual flight rules whereby pilots fly by "sight and rudder."
"It must be a fairly simple aircraft if it's flying under VFR," Larsen said.
An officer at Washington Air Route Traffic Control Center in Leesburg, Va., offered the same information and would not elaborate further.
