Cascade man is sentenced for assault involving vehicle

April 11, 2008

A Cascade man accused of striking his girlfriend with his pickup truck in November was sentenced Thursday to three years in prison with 18 months suspended, Washington County District Court records show.

John William Spahr, 34, of 14449 Royer Road, pleaded guilty in December to second-degree assault, court records show.

Charges of attempted second-degree murder, kidnapping, first-degree assault and reckless endangerment were dropped after the victim wrote a letter to the judge and retracted her accusations, according to the records.

Spahr also was given 18 months of probation, during which time he must abstain from drugs and alcohol, submit to drug and alcohol testing and have no abusive or harassing contact with the victim, court records show.

He was given credit for the nearly five months he has already served, records show.
