'Playing with the Projector'

April 08, 2008|By E. L. SYVERSON

The past is just a silent movie.
I know these faces had voices once,
but I cannot hear the words they say.
I can only remember
and hope to read fast enough
before the lines slip off the screen
and fade to black once more.
Then a spot of sepia opens a new frame.
Fading in again,
loved ones are brought back to life
and smiles return to faces.
Those that have frowned for so long.
Someone hit rewind again!
Please, play it back?
I just need to see it one more time!
Everything is so simple.
Everything is so right.
Who's idea was it to roll the credits?
