Glenn Trumpower has a special place in his heart for hospice organizations. At a recent VFW Post 1936 meeting, Patty Smith, community relations liaison for Hospice of Washington County, gave a presentation about the services that the local hospice provides to veterans in this community.
During the discussion, Trumpower was reminded of the compassionate care that a hospice organization in Florida provided to his late wife and himself several years ago. He was so moved that he made a $50 donation to the organization and suggested to his fellow veterans that of all the organizations that the VFW supports, Hospice of Washington County is one that they and their families may actually call on in a time of need in the future.
After the presentation, Trumpower moved that Post 1936 donate funds to HWC and pledged to match that donation dollar for dollar. A $500 donation was suggested and Trumpower matched it, true to his word.
