April 08, 2008

HAGERSTOWN -- Police say a Hagerstown man threatened to kill his wife Saturday night in a violent struggle that ended after she managed to call 911, Washington County District Court records show.

Terry L. Bryan, 44, of 408 E. Franklin St., was charged with first- and second-degree assault, false imprisonment and other charges, court records show. He was being held on $75,000 bond, court records show.

The victim told police her husband shoved her down and held her down several times, threatened to kill her and tried to prevent her from leaving or calling for help, Hagerstown Police Officer Thomas Kelley wrote in charging documents.

Police responded to a 9:41 p.m. 911 call that was cut short and heard a woman screaming for help and a man making threats, Kelley wrote. When Bryan answered the door, he was detained, and he later was arrested, Kelley wrote. The victim had minor cuts and a sore upper lip from the struggle, Kelley wrote.
