The Clines

Paul and Mildred Cline of Hagerstown celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Thursday, March 6, 2008.

A celebration lunch at Williamsport Byron parkwas hosted by their children, Roland and Becky Cline and Ronna and Ed Shehan.

The Clines were married March 6, 1948, at the Brethren Church in Chewsville.

Mrs. Cline is the former Mildred Bankard, daughter of the late Earl and Loretta Bankard.

Mr. Cline is the son of the late Lemuel and Lillie Cline. He retired from Pangborn after 45 years of service.

They have two grandsons.

The Wishards

Wayne and Fran Wishard of the St. James area were honored for 50 years of marriage Friday, Dec. 28, 2007.

More than 60 friends and family members attended the party which was sponsored by their children and spouses, Darren and Paula Wishard and Paul and Kelli Nunnally. The open house was held at the Nunnally's home.


The Wishards' grandchildren also helped to plan the event.

The Wishards were married Dec. 28, 1957, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Hagerstown.

Mr. Wishard was an owner and co-owner of Hub City Electric and Flameless Heating Supply, Inc.

Mrs. Wishard was a registered nurse at Washington County Hospital and with Home Health Care.

They have three great-grandchildren.

The Slifers

William and Virginia Slifer of Boonsboro celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary Saturday, March 1, 2008. They were honored with a family dinner at Nick's Airport Inn in Hagerstown. The dinner was hosted by their six children and their spouses, Dennis Slifer, Ann and Bill Herche, Dot and Tom Hammond, Deb and Kirk Karn, Laura and Tilghman Hemsley and Bill and Susie Slifer.

The Slifers were married March 1, 1946, at the Bethel United Methodist Church in Rohrersville. Mr. Slifer had returned home from World War II several months earlier. Mrs. Slifer was a member of the 1945 class of Washington County School of Nursing.

Mr. Slifer is the son of the late Luther and Orpha Slifer. He is a retired brick mason.

Mrs. Slifer is the daughter of the late Amos and Margie Reeder of Boonsboro. She is a retired registered nurse.

The Slifers have 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
