School honors Lindsay Vann

Third-grade teachers at Sharpsburg Elementary School have chosen Lindsay Vann as March Community Partnership for Families Character Counts! nominee. Lindsay's third-grade teacher, Debra McPherson, has nominated Lindsay for modeling all of the pillars of character. McPherson says that Lindsay exhibits consistent Character Counts! traits on a daily basis. She is helpful and caring to everyone and is an inspiration to others and a positive role model. Lindsay has participated in the school chorus and is involved in ballet.

Sharpsburg PTO to hold basket bingo

The Sharpsburg Elementary PTO will hold a basket bingo Saturday at the Williamsport American Legion.

Doors open at 11 a.m. and the games begin at 12:30 p.m. Tickets cost $20 and include 20 regular games and five special games. Tickets are available at the school or by calling 301-766-8321 (ask for Vickie). No one younger than 21 will be admitted. Tip jars and raffles will be available.


Keedysville Ruritan to hold basket bingo

The Keedysville Ruritan Club is sponsoring a basket bingo Saturday at the Keedysville Community Center at 40 Mt. Vernon Drive.

Renners celebrate 50th anniversary

Dan and Judy Renner of Harpers Ferry Road in Sharpsburg are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary.

The Renners were married in Sharpsburg by the Rev. Robert Easterday. They have five children; Cindy, Danny Jr., Laura, Rose and Eric, 13 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Best wishes on your 50th anniversary. From your entire family!

Fire company to serve breakfast

The Potomac Valley Fire Department will serve a pancake breakfast Saturday from 8 to 11 a.m. at the fire hall in Dargan.

The menu will include eggs, pancakes, sausage, sausage gravy, orange juice and coffee. Tickets cost $5.

The fire station is at 2202 Dargan School Road in the community of Dargan, six miles south of Sharpsburg on Harpers Ferry Road.

Church to hold spring revival

Mt. Briar First Church of God will hold a revival from Sunday to Wednesday at 7 each evening.

Preaching and special music will be featured each evening:

· Sunday - Pastor David Meador, preaching

· Monday - Pastor Mark Hosler, preaching

· Tuesday - Layman Raymond Duvall, preaching

· Wednesday - A night of music by Ernie Bradley and The Grassy Ridge Band.

The church is at 4705 Mt. Briar Road, Keedysville, at the intersection of Mt. Briar and Porterstown roads. All are welcome to the revival.

St. Mark's to sponsor bag, basket bingo

St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Lappans, will hold a Vera Bradley Bag and basket bingo Sunday, April 13, at Williamsport Fire Hall.

Doors open at 11 a.m.; lunch begins at noon; and bingo starts at 1:30 p.m. Tickets cost $22.

Lunch will be available only for advance ticket purchases. The menu includes hot pulled pork barbecue sandwiches, cold sliced turkey breast sandwiches, potato chips, pasta salad, pickles, cakes, water, iced tea, regular and decaf coffee. Twenty regular games, raffles, specials and King Tut with bags and baskets will be available.

Proceeds will benefit the St. Mark's youth group missiontrips. Call the church at 301-582-0417 for tickets.

Salem Methodist to hold breakfast

Salem United Methodist Church, Keedysville, will hold an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast Saturday, April 19, from 7 to 11 a.m. at the church.

A breakfast of sausage, sausage gravy, scrambled eggs, pancakes, juice, coffee and tea will cost $6.50 for adults, $4.50 for those 6 to 10 and free for children 5 and younger.

BAAA to register cheerleaders

Boonsboro Area Athletic Association cheerleading registration will be Monday, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Boonsboro American Legion.

The Sharpsburg Lions meet the first and third Thursdays of each month at the Lions Den at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 209 W. Main St., Sharpsburg.

Willison to speak at senior site

Jackie Willison will speak on the topic "Is it Time for a Pill?" Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at the senior site in Keedysville.

HCC exercises classes will continue Wednesdays at 10 a.m. Participants must register through HCC for these classes.

Other regularly scheduled activities provided at the Southeastern senior site during the month of April include basket bean bag; bean bag toss; bingo; cards; coffee, conversation and newspaper every day at 9 a.m.; darts or Uno; horseshoes.
