FREDERICK, Md. - Hagerstown Community College shocked Frederick Community College with a nine-run first inning and rolled to the win.

Matt Byers and Kyle Chronister each had two hits and two RBIs for the Hawks (16-8-1, 7-0 Maryland JuCo). Mike Knight added two hits and an RBI.

Wilmington 6-6, Shepherd 5-7

WILMINGTON, Del. - Nichole Pitcock blasted a three-run homer to help Shepherd University defeat Wilmington University (22-8) in the nightcap of a doubleheader split.

Rae Johnson had a double, a triple and two RBIs for the Rams.

Jodie Sites went 3-for-4, while Jamie Griffin, Stephanie Sims and April Przygocki each had two hits to lead Shepherd (11-15) in the opener.

Fowler strikes out 14

EMMITSBURG, Md. - South Hagerstown graduate Jamie Fowler threw a four-hit shutout and struck out a career-high 14 and Allie Vadas knocked in the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh to lift Mount St. Mary's past Morgan State 1-0 in the first game of a doubleheader sweep.

The Mount won the nightcap, 4-2.

Rogers wins state title

THURMONT, Md. - Boonsboro's Kaitlyn Rogers, 7, wrestling for the Boonsboro Warriors Mat Club, won the 47-pound weight class at the 2008 USGWA Maryland state championships at Catoctin High School on March 16.

Rogers defeated Chambersburg's Lindy Shiffler by pin in 2:59 in the third match of a best-of-3 final series. Shiffler won the first match 17-10 before Rogers evened things with a pin in 56 seconds to force the third bout.
