Basket bingo to benefit South

The South Hagerstown High PTA will host a Longaberger basket bingo at the Funkstown Fire department on Sunday, April 13.

Doors open at noon and bingo begins at 1:30 p.m. There will be 20 games, door prizes and raffles. All the baskets given away will be filled. Tickets cost $20. Those wanting tickets can call the Funkstown fire hall or leave a message at South High to the attention of the PTA president.

Fun Day planned in Williamsport

Mark your calendars for Saturday, April 26. The Williamsport area schools will host a car show, concession stand, kids activities and yard sale in the schools parking lots from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Those wanting to reserve a space can do so for $10. Items will also be accepted for donation (nonclothing items only).


Proceeds from this event will benefit the Willliamsport Elementary School Green Fund, Springfield Middle Band Boosters Uniform Fund and the Williamsport High Blue Band Uniform Fund.

AARP to meet

The local AARP chapter will meet Tuesday at Next Dimension Restaurant in Hagerstown at 1:30 p.m.

Job fair planned at Valley Mall

In the market for a new career? Be sure to check out The Herald-Mail Job Fair at Valley Mall on Thursday, April 24.

Get a chance to meet with representatives from local area businesses and get the opportunity to learn about careers that are available in the community. Be sure to prepare your rsum.

Participants will have the chance to schedule interviews with potential employers. The job fair will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Hager House event

On Saturday, April 19, children ages 6 to 12 will get to see the Hager House and off-tour items and areas and learn about clothing and toys in Jonathan Hager's time. The program begins at 9 a.m. Admission costs $2 per child. Adults will be charged $2 with accompanying child. Registration is required. Please contact for more details.


Attention parents of Washington County prekindergarten students, please mark the following on your calendar: Prekindergarten will not be held Friday.

Parents of students who are entering prekindergarten and kindergarten for the fall school year can register on Wednesday, April 9. Please contact your local school district for times and locations.
