Jefferson County educators honored

Laura Berkeley, right, was selected as Jefferson County's 2008 Teacher of the Year Wednesday night during an awards ceremony at Charles Town Races & Slots. Berkeley teaches deaf and hard-of-hearing students in grades pre-K through grade 12. Chris Walter, left, principal at Wright Denny Intermediate School was named Principal of the Year. Barbara Scott, center, a teacher's aide at T.A. Lowery Elementary School, received the Service Personnel of the Year Award. The dinner was sponsored by Charles Town Races & Slots and Roger Ramey, the racetrack's vice president of public affairs.
