Hagerstown allocates $3.7 million for Jonathan Street reconstruction

April 02, 2008

On Tuesday, the Hagerstown City Council allocated $3.7 million to pay for a project to reconstruct Jonathan Street.

Roughly $3.23 million of that amount will be used to pay for the services of the contractor, Ardent Co., LLC, of McLean, Va. The remainder, or about $468,000, will be used primarily to cover unforeseen costs.

Funding for the project will come mainly from the city's General Fund and bond financing.

The projects will include replacing water and sewer lines under the street and repaving the roadway, City Engineer Rodney Tissue said. Construction could begin this spring and would take about a year to complete.
