March 25, 2008

Police have charged a Hagerstown man in a March 3 armed robbery outside the AC&T store at 301 N. Burhans Blvd, court records show.

Terrence Michael Carter, 19, of 123 E. Antietam St., faces 14 charges in the incident, including armed robbery, first-degree assault, theft and use of a handgun in a violent crime, according to Washington County District Court records.

The victim, Matthew Allen, knew Carter and had argued with him a few days before the incident, Hagerstown Police Officer Chris Mikash wrote in charging documents. Allen told police he was walking out of the AC&T at about 9:30 p.m. when Carter and two other men jumped out of a car, Mikash wrote. Allen said Carter grabbed $61 from him, stuck a handgun to his side and told him to "flip pockets."

Allen and a witness identified Carter from a photo lineup March 9, Mikash wrote.

Carter was being held at the Washington County Detention Center on $75,000 bond Monday night.
