W.Va. Wesleyan 7-9, Shepherd 1-4

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - West Virginia Wesleyan's Lexi Rodgers, a Martinsburg graduate, had two hits in each game of the WVIAC sweep of Shepherd, including a solo homer in the nightcap.

Jamie Griffin, also a Martinsburg grad, drove in Shepherd's lone run in the first game and added two hits in the second.

The Rams fell to 5-11 (0-2), while the Bobcats improved to 23-13 (4-0).

Senators/Nationals tryouts

Registration for the Williamsport Senators junior legion (ages 15-17) and Williamsport Nationals (ages 15-19) senior legion teams will be held March 30, April 6 and April 13 from 1 to 4 p.m. at Williamsport High School. Tryouts will be held April 19, 20 and 26 starting at 4:30 p.m., and April 27 starting at 2 p.m. Players must bring a copy of their birth certificate. Girls fast-pitch tournament

Team registrations are being accepted for the seventh annual Girls Memorial Weekend Softball Frenzy scheduled for May 23-26 in Pikesville, Md. The tournament offers 'B' level competition in 10U, 12U, 14U, 16U and 18U age divisions with round-robin play guaranteeing all teams a minimum of three games, with single-elimination playoffs.
