Accident in Pa. is fatal for driver

TRI-STATE - The driver of a vehicle died early Saturday in an accident on Path Valley Road in Metal Township, Pa., according to a Pennsylvania State Police press release.

In a separate accident in Washington County later Saturday, a man was taken to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center in Baltimore after receiving burns in a traffic accident in the 11800 block of Hopewell Road, according to a Washington County Sheriff's Department press release.

The fatal accident in Franklin County occurred about 1:10 a.m. in the 13100 block of Path Valley Road. The driver drove off the road, and the vehicle struck a utility pole and rolled over several times, troopers said.

The driver, whose name was being withheld as of Saturday afternoon, was pronounced dead at the scene, troopers said.

The accident in Washington County occurred about 7:40 a.m. when a Ford Explorer driven by Rasheen Wayne Jefferson, 32, address unknown, traveled off Hopewell Road and went into a pond, police said. The vehicle caught fire, and Jefferson had to be extricated from the wreckage, police said.

Jefferson was taken Washington County Hospital in Hagerstown and later flown to Bayview, police said.

Jefferson was listed in critical condition Saturday afternoon, a Bayview hospital spokeswoman said.
