SMITHSBURG - A Smithsburg EMS ambulance slid off the road and struck a shed Thursday while on its way to a call on Edgemont Road, the Washington County Sheriff's Department said.
There were no patients on board and no one was injured in the accident, Deputy J.D. Litten said.
The ambulance's rear passenger-side wheels slid off the roadway and down a small embankment in the 14000 block of Edgemont Road about 5:28 p.m., Litten said. The driver, trying to keep the vehicle on the road, oversteered and struck a shed and several trees beside the road, Litten said.
There was no sign that negligence caused the accident, he said.
No names will be released until the investigation is complete, he said.
