March 08, 2008

INWOOD, W.Va. -- An accident in the 1500 block of Hatchery Road south of Martinsburg, W.Va., resulted in at least one fatality, a Berkeley County emergency services dispatcher said Saturday morning.

The accident was reported at 3:24 a.m., according to a Berkeley County Sheriff's Department press release.

The driver of a red Dodge Durango lost control of the vehicle on Hatchery Road, then the vehicle struck a tree, deputies said.

One woman, whose named was not released, was taken to Winchester (Va.) Medical Center, deputies said.

Five people -- three men and two women -- were involved in the accident, deputies said. The three men have been identified, but the women have not, deputies said.

The Berkeley County Sheriff's Department is asking for help in identifying the female victims. Anyone with information may call investigators at 304-267-7000 or Berkeley County Crime Solvers at 304-267-4999.
