"I thought we did a decent job of not letting any quarters get away from us," Gerber said. "We won every quarter and that was one of our goals."
Nico Wanko grabbed nine rebounds, while Shane Zbir came up with seven rebounds and six blocks for Boonsboro (6-17). Adam Chambers was the top scorer for the Warriors with eight points.
"Our guys didn't give up," Boonsboro coach John Taylor said. "We played hard all year long. They packed the zone in against us. Smithsburg is patient in its offense. That helped them be successful."
The Leopards built a 19-9 advantage with 3:08 remaining in the second quarter and led by at least six points for the rest of the game.
Smithsburg will play at Williamsport on Tuesday night at 7 in the East Sectional semifinals.
·: In the girls game, 6-foot junior center Brynn Arnone had team-high totals of 13 points and 12 rebounds to lead Boonsboro over Clear Spring, 56-29.
"We were able to push the ball and get in for the easy layups," Arnone said. "It looked like they were trying to box me out. But a lot of the people stepped up and helped me out with the rebounding. We really didn't play that well. We're definitely going to have a lot to improve on in practice before we play our next game."
Katie Marshall scored 11 points for Boonsboro (15-8). Emma Dalton added nine points, nine steals and nine rebounds.
"We shot 26 percent from the field and 43 percent from the foul line," Boonsboro coach Max Shaffer said. "It was the worst shooting night that we've had this season. We also made 29 turnovers. I don't think we were focused. Our defense has been carrying us. We didn't do the little things that we should have. We had a week layoff that hurt us."
Sarah Dice led Clear Spring (4-19) with 14 points and seven rebounds. Andrea Baum scored nine points, while Hannah House and Lindsay Trumpower grabbed six rebounds each for the Blazers.
"I am extremely proud of my team," Clear Spring coach Greg Henry said. "We played with a ton of energy and a ton of effort. Boonsboro is a very good team. I thought our girls responded well to the challenge."
Boonsboro will host Williamsport in the East Sectional semifinals on Monday night at 7.
