Suit against Bruchey dismissed

February 29, 2008

A lawsuit that was filed in December by a credit card company against Hagerstown Mayor Robert E. Bruchey II was dismissed Thursday in Washington County District Court.

Capital One claimed in the lawsuit that Bruchey allegedly failed to pay $672.72 for "purchased miscellaneous merchandise, services and/or received cash in advance."

In addition to $672.72, Capital One sued to recover $81.37 from accrued interest and $100.90 in legal fees, court records show.

Bruchey said last week that he settled the account earlier this month, and the matter would not go to trial.
