Fowler outduels Signore

FORT MYERS, Fla. - Mount St. Mary's junior Jamie Fowler, a South Hagerstown graduate, outdualled St. Bonaventure freshman Sarah Signore, a Greencasatle graduate, 3-1 in eight innings Wednesday night.

Both pitchers carried a shutout into extra innings. Signore, who had a no-hitter entering the eighth, allowed three runs on three hits in the eighth. Fowler picked up the win, allowing one run on five hits with six strikeouts.


Hawks sign Centofonti, Miller

Hagerstown Community College signed Corey Centofonti of Smithsburg and Wade Miller of Clear Spring to letters of intent Thursday night.

Centofonti was The Herald-Mail's 2007 Washington County Boys Runner of the Year, winning the MVAL Antietam and Washington County meets and finishing second in the Maryland Class 1A state meet.


Miller placed seventh at the county championships, eighth in the MVAL Antietam, 21st in Class 1A West and 34th in the Maryland state meet.
