Seminar for nurses to be held March 8

A seminar titled "Branching Out in Nursing" will be held Saturday, March 8, from 8 a.m. to noon at the Robinwood Medical Center, Suite 142.

The seminar is being provided by the Chesapeake Bay Society of PeriAnesthesia Nurses, Western Maryland District.

The speaker will be Linda Lee Altizer, R.N., a forensic nurse consultant with the Child Advocacy Center in Hagerstown and with the Armed Forces Medical Examiner in Rockville, Md. She also works at Waynesboro (Pa.) Hospital, she is a medical examiner for Washington County, and for Altizer Medical Legal Consulting.

She has written many articles for the Orthopaedic Nursing Journal and the Core Curriculum for Orthopaedic Nurses.

The purpose of the program is to provide participants increased knowledge of legal issues in nursing practice, exposure to forensic investigation, and understanding of military nursing.

The agenda includes: 8 a.m. - Legal Issues in Nursing Practice; 9:25 a.m. - Forensic Investigation; 10:45 a.m. - Military Safety.

Preregistration is recommended. Limited seating is available. Registration at the door is possible if space is available. The program has been approved by Washington County Hospital for trauma hours.
