Volunteers needed to walk the dogs

February 29, 2008

The Humane Society of Washington County will hold an orientation for potential dog walkers from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 5, at the shelter 10311 Maugansville Road, Hagerstown.

The event is free. Anyone interested in helping at the shelter is encouraged to attend. Those between the ages of 12 and 15 must be accompanied by a qualified adult; ages 16 and older may volunteer independently.

Dog walkers are needed at the shelter during daylight hours beginning at 9 a.m.

Walks are an essential element for the good mental and physical health of the dogs and make them more appealing to potential adopters. There is also the added bonus for the dog walkers: the physical and mental boost they will receive from walking the dogs.

To attend the orientation, make reservations with Margaret Becker at 301-733-2060, ext. 212 or e-mail mbecker@hswcmd.org. To learn more about the Humane Society of Washington County, its programs and services, and animal related issues, go to www.hswcmd.org.
